Frozen leaves

Standing on the edge of town
I hear you coming
without a sound
they tell me something’s coming down
though I won’t run
just stick around

and the winter wind
and the songs I sing
come set me free
and the frozen leaves
on my bended knee’s
please let me be.

Seems, like you just ran out of friends
seems you got tired, of all of them
they don’t come knocking anymore
the phone don’t ring
such an empty shore

And the winter wind
too hoarse to sing
just set me free
and the people pray.
to God they say
they can’t fool me.

how could you take the best of me
how could you break what set you free
what set you free
you know more than me.

I see you standing over there
but you could be
Just anywhere
seems like that all I do is stare
can’t even run
can’t even care

and the winter wind
and the songs they sing
will set me free
and the frozen trees
and my bended knees
will carry me

how could you take the best of me
how could you break what set you free
what set you free
you know more than me.
you know more than me.
