Staying up all night Version 3

I used to look out of my window, at the city lights
used to listen to foreign stations,
on my radio at night.
I used to sit in and wonder
if my friends would call
now I don’t have to wait,
I don’t have to worry at all.
Co’s we have all been down here
we have tasted salt in tears
when we all understand,
that it is all in hand,
then we will believe,
we get what we need.
Used to stay up all night in the summertime
I used to drive along white lines
with 4 fine friends of mine
used to watch the tv, till it went blank.
now I don’t do that, that’s not where I’m at,
that’s not my thing.
We have all been down here,
walked a path that seemed unclear.
stood in empty halls, felt cold marble walls
in the church where we prayed.
we have all lived this life, cut the silence with a knife.
been mis-understood, not done what we could
not done anything.
Now we get in the morning, we go to work and come home then.
we watch the late news program.
go to bed and do it all again.
This is not the life I planned.
though I know I played a hand
now it leads me to a place
from which I cannot run
It’s whatever it is you see,
that life will become
Used to roll down the window, and drive so fast.
used to get out and lie down, on the bone dry moorland grass.
used to switch of the engine,
and roll down that hill.
was such a brave affair,
all of us were there,
feel like I’m rolling still.
We have all been down here,
walked a path that seemed unclear.
stood in empty halls, felt cold marble walls
in the church where we prayed.
we have all lived this life,
cut the silence with a knife.
been mis-understood, not done what we could
not done anything.
we’ve waited for the phone to ring.
