Then she falls (Scafel)
Copyright 2009
Driving in my car, slowly up a hill
The mountain rises steeply,
and comes right into view
I’ve only ever climbed one, a lady called Scafell,
remember clinging to her top, and not feeling very well
then she falls
and asks for me
through these walls,
I just can’t see
The morning calls,
and she almost lies
I will cherish these summer skies.
Yesterday is gone and done; I climbed on the big wheel
spinning round in circles just to know
just how it feels,
you never really wanted the laughter and the smiles
your friends they hid in comfort,
watching tv in style.
44 from top to toe
I wanted more, I told her so
she smiled and turned
the usual refrain.
I will cherish,
your love gain.
You ride your 4x4s protected by your steel.
I’m sure you feel much safer
on your mobile at the wheel
a selfish congregation, has gathered at my door,
taking from my altar
and wanting more and more.
of the little things,
that makes you whole
the magazines with promises untold.
how to live a life so full
you’re an empty shell, with a heart so dull
