Hiding on a Sunday,
staying out of the way.
no conversation,
no good hand left to play.
cant hear myself, I hear myself say
can’t turn these wheels around the other way,
can’t learn a thing from my last mistake
take me home.
Take a detour through the backstreets and beyond.
past your back door
where I once left and entered from
can’t help myself I cannot hear that song.
can’t really see where it all went wrong
can’t really be here
or just belong
Cars and buses.
and lorries clog the road.
feels like I’m wearing
somebody else’s clothes
maybe somebody I don’t recognise,
though I keep looking thru a strangers eyes,
a chance to see what I might despise
Tell me what it was that got u through those nights.
I wasn’t thinking I didn’t have the right.
to walk away, and just not explain.
to spare the anger and embittered pain
to make believe that I could just remain
lying to myself,
lying to each other,
unknown to someone else,
my not so secret lover.
my not secret lover
